12 Before 13
12 before 13 is a hilarious and empathic story about two 12-year-olds, Kaylan and Arianna. They both are best friends and every year, they create a friendship list. This year, they create 12 things to do before they turn 13, with “Keep our friendship strong” as number 1. But after Ari goes to Camp Silver, she meets people who change her life. So when Ari comes back, she feels torn between Kaylan and her camp friends.
I admired this book because the book can be sad, funny, or a mix of both. The way that the author wrote this book, I felt like I was one of the characters. The theme of the book is that even if you are with people you love, it can still be hard to feel like you fit in. The book is perfect for middle-schoolers and those who are facing friendship problems themselves. After reading 12 Before 13, I can’t wait to read yet another book by Lisa Greenwald.
