“Her parents, her long lost sister, her aunt, a strange man”

Double Identity is an electrifying thriller written by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The story is based on a girl, Bethany. As she nears her thirteenth birthday, her parents start to act weird. Bethany is determined to find out why but it turns almost impossible when her parents leave her with her aunt Myrlie, an aunt she never knew even existed, in Sanderfield, Illinois. Bethany notices that everyone keeps saying that she looks like “Elizabeth”. She wants to find out who she is but no one will tell her. Just when things couldn’t get worse, a strange man starts stalking her. Then, she finds out the dreadful truth.

I adored this book and thought it was very engaging. I love the theme, which is emotions, family, adventures, and secrets. Haddix added quite a lot of massive twists… For example, when Bethany found out who Elizabeth was, it was mind-blowing. Taking place in a small town in Illinois, the setting paints an expressive picture. The best part about this book is that you never feel bored because it keeps you anxious about what happens next. The book is 215 pages, which is perfect for those above age 9. After reading Double Identity, I can’t wait to get my hands on another book by Margaret Peterson Haddix.
